DILG Orders Limited Entry, Exit Points In Public Markets

DILG- Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) recently order limiting entry and exit points in public markets.

This is in order to further observe social distancing among the public. according to an article from GMA News.

Interior Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said that Secretary Eduardo Año directed local government units (LGUs) to assign one entry and exit points in public markets.

This followed after they received reports that social distancing was not observed in markets and instances of mass gatherings.

“Ipinag-utos na po niya sa lahat ng palengke na dapat limitado ang lagusan papasok at palabas,”

Malaya added that Año further ordered security forces to initiate patrols within and outside public markets.

PNP Deputy Chief for Operations and Joint Task Force COVID-19 Shield commander Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar said earlier that they will deploy more officials in markets to further observe social distancing.

Eleazar added that barangay officials would will aid in checking the markets/

As per the report, the act followed after reports that social distancing was not observed as masses of individuals flock to the markets.
