Four In Cebu City Went Out For Coffee, Imprisoned For Violating ECQ

CEBU CITY – Four residents from Barangay Sambag 2, Cebu City were arrested for violating quarantine guidelines for going out for a coffee.

According to SunStar, among them were two who were caught last week and were warned thay they will face detntion should they repeat the same mistake.

The four imprisoned were identified as John Lord Junio, aged 21, of Sitio Maharlika; Aldrin James Alueta, aged 20, of Mansanitas; Jayhan Duglas, aged 18, of Sitio Kawayan; and Jill Tapayan, aged 19.

All four of them were caught traversing the streets without an enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) pass.

Police Master Sgt. Jeptah Jumawan said that they violated Republic Act (RA) No. 11132, also known as Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Disease and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act. This is in lieu of the Executive Order No. 65 issued by Mayor Edgardo Labella.

As per the report, Jumawan added that they were caught by barangay officials spearheded by Marlon Zapatalo. He added that they violated the guidelines as they roam around amid ECQ dur to Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Two of them further argued that they came out from their residence to have a coffee. Sambag 2 Barangay Captain Ryan Aznar warned the two earlier that they will be in jail for doing so.

They are currently being detained at the Abellana Police Station for further probe.
