Bacolod City PUMs Defying Quarantine Guidelines Face Charges

BACOLOD CITY – Persons under monitoring (PUMs) in Bacolod City who were defying quarantine guidelines for COVID-19 willl face charges.

This is a warning from the local City Legal Office, according to an article from Panay News.

Joselito Bayatan. head of CLO, said that there will be some who could be held liable for multiple violations, among those are not cooperating under the law on mandatory reporting of notifiable diseases and the quarantine law; and resisting and disobeying a person in authority.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran earlier posted that most of these PUMs were considered nowhere in sight are now coordinating with his office, as well as the City Health Office (CHO).

Familiaran also gave an ultimatum to them to coordinate with the CHO or the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team. Otherwise, they will be called out in public.

As per the report, the vice mayor of the capital city of Negros Occidental said that he received lots of messages from the PUMs, among them include thos who weren’t received CHO-issued clearances after completing 14-day home quarantine.

There are about 2,355 PUMs in the city as of April 6, among them were 1,974 who cleared the home quarantine.
