Pinoy Nurse Dies Due To COVID-19 While Under Quarantine In London

PINOY NURSE DIES UNDER QUARANTINE – A 51-year-old Filipino nurse in London had succumbed to the deadly virus.

Donald “Dondee” Zuelto was working in Barts Health National Health Services (NHS) Trust in London. On March 24, he posted on his Facebook that one of his patients showed symptoms of COVID-19.

Following this, Zuelto was placed under self-quarantine in his flat where he lived alone. According to a report from ABS-CBN, he had constant communication with friends but it stopped on April 5.

This caused his friends from Scotland to worry. As such, they called on the help of the authorities. Zuelto had to be declared missing -so that authorities could enter is flat where he was found dead.

As per the report, Zuelto was from Negros Oriental and was the breadwinner for his family. Furthermore, he was helping his 3 nephews with their schooling according to his friends.

Currently, there are over 18,000 Filipino health workers in the United Kingdom. They are only second to India when it comes to having the most foreign medical workers.

On April 7, the United Kingdom reported over 60,733 cases of COVID-19. Additionally, the virus had caused 7,097 fatalities. Furthermore, the virus had even infected UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson who is no under intensive care.

Worldwide, there are over 1,518,518 people infected with the new coronavirus. Along with this, the virus had caused more than 88,495 deaths. Meanwhile, the number of recovered patients was reported to be around 330,589.

In the Philippines, the lockdown in Luzon was extended until April 30 to further flatten the number of rising COVID-19 cases in the country.
