TWITTER – The chief executive of Twitter, Jack Dorsey pledged to donate $1 billion to help fight the 2019 novel coronavirus.

Coronavirus has caused all public gathering to be cancelled. Millions of people are now working in their homes. Still, the deadly virus from China continues to spread around the world.

Big companies, celebrities, and rich individuals contributed to help fight the coronavirus pandemic. They help provide the needs of the frontliners while some focus on providing the needs of the poor families.

The world’s richest person and the founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, pledged that he will donate $100 million to Feeding America, a food bank.

“Even in ordinary times, food insecurity in American households is an important problem, and unfortunately Covid-19 is amplifying that stress significantly,” he said.

Recently, the chief executive of Twitter, Jack Dorcey, promised to donate $1 billion to fund COVID-19 research. He hoped that his money could help “disarm this pandemic.”

Jack, who co-founded the popular social media site in 2006, Tweeted on Tuesday, April 7 saying he will be donating $1 billion of Square shares to ‘Start Small,’ a charitable fund that “funds global COVID-19 relief.”

“I’m moving $1B of my Square equity (~28% of my wealth) to #startsmall LLC to fund global COVID-19 relief. After we disarm this pandemic, the focus will shift to girl’s health and education, and UBI,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, in the Philippines, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and some Cabinet members donated their salaries to COVID-19 relief efforts.

Soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said they will also give half of their salary as additional funds to help combat the virus.
