Bong Go Denounces Social Media Controversy, Says Its “Fake News”

BONG GO DENOUNCES FAKE NEWS – Recently, Senator Bong Go was linked to a controversy regarding medical equipment donations.

For those who weren’t on the loop, screenshots showing alleged conversations between an insider from hospitals saying the NBI raided their PPE supply. Afterward, these supplies were to be repacked and distributed in Bong Go’s name through his Malasakit Centers.

However, in an interview with the government’s own broadcast channel, PTV, Go emphasized that the allegations against him were simply means to distract the admin.

Gusto nilang siraan kami and they want to distract us para alam niyo. Ayaw nila tumulong po kami, by spreading fake news.

(The just want to defame and distract us because they don’t want us to help. That’s why they’re spreading fake news)

But, Go had already denied previous allegations. Furthermore, he emphasized that those who spread fake news will be held accountable under the “Bayanihan to Heal As One” act.

According to a report from ABS-CBN, Go stated that private companies who asked for his advice had the initiative of including his name in the donations. Moreover, he explained that he was not involved with plastering his name on them.

As per the report, Bongo Stated:

Hindi po namin iwasan maglagay ng pangalan ‘yong companies like Lucio Tan Group without my knowledge para makarating sa pribadong ospital kasi po sa panahon na ito hindi kaya tugunan ng Department of Health ang lahat ng ospital para tapalan ang pagkukulang ng medical equipment

We can’t avoid companies like the Lucio Tan Group placing my name on donations without my knowledge because at this time, the Department of Health can’t supply the lacking medical equipment of all hospitals.

Lastly, Go reiterated that they do not need the recognition when it came to the donations.
