Philippines Has Eight Facilities Able To Perform COVID-19 Tests
COVID-19 TESTS – Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said that there are currently eight health facilities who are able to perform COVID-19 tests.
According to GMA News, the said identified eight facilities are the following:
- Research Institute for Tropical Medicine
- Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center
- San Lazaro Hospital
- Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center
- Southern Philippines Medical Center
- University of the Philippines-National Institutes of Health
- Western Visayas Medical Center
- Lung Center of the Philippines
In a press conference, the cabinet secretary said that they cannot overemphasize how vital it is for health professionals and workers to identify and treat infected patients and potential carriers.
Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire of the Department of Health said that persons with symptoms will be the first to be tested. She clarified that this does not apply to all people in the nation, adding that there is a protocol.
If they are tested positive, they will be transfer to a community quarantine facility.
As per the report, the nation currently has 2,633 positive cases, among them are 107 fatalities and 51 recoveries.
Carlito Galvez Jr., Presidential Peace Adviser and chief implementer of the national action policy said the the mass testing of suspected cases will begin on April 14.
