FITBIT LAUNCHES CHARGE 4 – Before being taken over by Google, Fitbit launched its latest fitness tracker.

However, with the coronavirus pandemic happening, this might not be the best time for the launch. Nevertheless, it brings new improvements in the right areas.

According to reports from Techspot, Charge 4’s aesthetic copies the same formula of its predecessors. But, it did get important upgrades under the hood.

As such, an important new update the included was a new built-in GPS feature. With this, users are no longer required to tether their Charge 4 to their smartphones for the function.

But, it does come with a hefty cost. Turning on the GPS feature would drain its battery life dramatically. As per the report, Charge 4 could last up to one week fully charged with the GPS off.

However, if you decided that you needed to turn on the GPS feature, Charge 4 could only last for- five hours. Although, this comes with a “GPS-powered” heat map with seven GPS based exercises you could do.

Additionally, Fitbit included an NFC so you could pay for products and services at 500 retailers in 44 countries. This could be done through “Fitbit Pay”, bringing the fitness watch to “smartwatch” territory.

Although the Fitbit doesn’t let you install apps or play music through it, you could still have control Spotify with it. As per the article, Charge 4 is up for pre-order and will begin shipping on April 13.

The price-point for the Fitbit Charge 4 would be around $149.99 – $169.99 depending on the version. Along with the purchase, users also get a 90-day free trial of Fitbit Premium. It’s a feature that users can subscribe to for $79.99 per year.
