Farmers in Bulacan Sell their Produce Online Due to Ongoing ECQ
Group of farmers from San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan decided to sell their produce online due to ongoing enhanced community quarantine.
Due to the enhanced quarantine community (ECQ) declared by the President Duterte to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the country, many workers are affected because residents are not allowed to leave their homes, unless your work is deemed essential.
Many lost their jobs and have trouble maintaining their everyday budget. Just like farmers who are now halting sales as their importers are limited because many delivery trucks are unable to enter the checkpoints due to ECQ.
Recently, With the help of the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP), farmers from Norzagaray and San Jose del Monte, Bulacan are selling their farm products through the internet.
According to the report of Manila Bulletin, The KMP has launched the Bagsakan Farmers Market where Bulacan fruit and vegetables are sold through Facebook.
The KMP and farmers from Bulacan also assure consumers that the fruits and vegetables they sell are lesser prices than the market. They are also assuring that they make fresh products for their customers to enjoy.
The KMP also insists that the government should monitor the prices of commodities in the country’s markets. Although the state of emergency exists in the Philippines, prices in other markets continue to rise. The legal price freeze should be implemented.
In addition, the KMP is also promoting the government’s assistance to farmers and fishermen who are unable to work at this time due to the ECQ. The KMP sells a lot of nutritious and satisfying products from Bulacan farmers.
