DILG Sends Message To Workers: Don’t Bring Virus Back To Provinces

DILG Sends Message To Workers, Urges Them To Stay Put & Avoid Spreading Virus

DILG SENDS MESSAGE TO WORKERS – As the Philippines continued to implement the Enhanced Community Quarantine, many workers desperately find ways to return to their provinces.

However, the Department of Interior and Local Government appealed to the workers and told them to stay put. With the spread of the virus, the DILG emphasized that anybody could be a potential carrier of the virus.

It was previously studied that patients infected with the new coronavirus, COVID-19 could be asymptomatic. This meant that even though you don’t have any symptoms, you may still test positive for it.

As such, according to an article from GMA, DILG spokesperson and Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya stated:

Huwag nang magmatigas na umuwi sa probinsiya. Any person is a potential carrier. Gugustuhin mo ba na magdala ng sakit sa inyong lugar

Within the guidelines of the enhanced community quarantine, travel and entry to and from cities and provinces have been restricted. However, there are still several people who attempt to return home to their provinces.

Malaya emphasized that some would ride in trucks, while others would even go as far as walking amid the lack of public transport. Meanwhile, there are many workers who are also left stranded.

However, with the safety of the general public in mind, the DILG and several other agencies urge people to stay put. As the Philippines have yet to conduct mass testings, anybody be it symptomatic or asymptomatic, may be potential carriers.

Furthermore, Malaya reminded the public that the enhanced community quarantine was placed to contain the spread of COVID-19. As such, people are expected to fully cooperate in these hard times.
