Netizens Lambasted a Councilor in Davao City for Giving Goods with Image

A councilor in Davao City earned criticism from the online community for handing out relief goods to residents with his name and image included.

After the President declared the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon, authorities started to implement stricter rules and regulations in order to prevent the continued spread of the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The Philippine government is also making necessary actions to help the residents affected by the deadly disease. Government agencies, private organizations, even well-known personalities and celebrities are distributing packed meals to both frontliners and ordinary citizens.

Meanwhile, a photo shared by a Facebook page named Duterte Today earned criticisms from the netizens. The photo shows relief packs to be given to residents affected by the quarantine, but with an image and name of a public official placed on covers.

The name placed on the cover of the goods to be given to residents with his image was Jonard Dayap, Councilor of 2nd District, Davao City.

Meanwhile, netizens slammed and criticized his actions amid pandemic crisis like this. The photo garnered various reactions from the online community.
