Every day, they risk exposing themselves in their fight against COVID-19. Sadly, many of the brave frontliners have succumbed to the coronavirus worldwide.

This time, a hospital worker from Georgia who was found positive for the coronavirus was found dead inside her own home. According to a report from NBC, the woman was found with her 4-year-old child at her side.

Authorities reported that Diedre Wilkes’ body was seen in the living room of her house in Newnan. The police came after a member of her family called the Coweta County Sherriff’s office requesting a welfare check.

Additionally, the coroner stated that the hospital worker had been dead for 12 to 16 hours before the body was found. Following this, a posthumous COVID-19 test was conducted which came back positive.

As per the report, Wilkes had no underlying health conditions that made her vulnerable to the virus. Meanwhile, an autopsy of the body was being conducted by authorities.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for their hospital said they were deeply saddened about the passing of their colleague. Additionally, those who have come in contact with Wilkes are being traced.

Currently, Georgia has more than 1,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases based on numbers from their public health department. As of Tuesday, the number of fatalities from the virus summed to 38.

Meanwhile, the number of infected from the coronavirus had reached 471,044 worldwide. In addition, there have been 21,284 fatalities with 114,228 people recovering from the virus.

As such, with the current rising trend of the virus, experts said that it has yet reached its peak and would continue to rise in the following days.
