Homeless Man Left Wandering Streets After He Tests Positive For COVID-19
HOMELESS MAN TESTS POSITIVE FOR COVID-19 – As the coronavirus pandemic continues its spread, people wonder what happens to the homeless.
Even before the pandemic, the world had a large population of homeless. As such, with the virus causing cities to go into lockdowns, the majority of homeless are left unattended to.
According to an article from CBC, a homeless man who tested positive for the coronavirus showed up at a homeless shelter in Montreal looking for something to eat.

Despite the circumstances, Old Brewery Mission’s executive director said he was highly concerned about the man. Additionally, he emphasized that a homeless person left roaming the streets after testing positive was disconcerting.
Meanwhile, Montreal’s public health agency admitted that isolation units for homeless COVID-19 patients aren’t ready yet.
However, it also addressed in a statement that they are currently investigating the case. As per the article, it said:
We are looking at all the measures to be put in place to reduce the risk of outbreaks in the homeless community
Although, Pearce noted that Montreal’s homeless shelters should be complete with all the necessary equipment to fight off the virus.
Meanwhile, one of the co-founders of Resilience Montreal stated that many of the homeless don’t have access to the internet or news. As such, most do not know the scope of the pandemic outbreak.
In addition, even if they did, they would have no place to turn to. Furthermore, they wouldn’t even have access to facilities for them to properly wash their hands.
Currently, there are 422,991 cases of COVID-19 worldwide. Additionally, the virus caused 18,905 fatalities. Meanwhile, the number of recovered had reached 109,143.
