Man in China Dies While Aboard A Bus, Tested Positive for Hantavirus

HANTAVIRUS – A man who tested positive for this disease reportedly died in China while aboard a bus.

China recently faced a huge challenge – the outbreak of the 2019 novel coronavirus, officially called as COVID-19. The said disease which is the biggest global concern now was first recorded in Wuhan City in the province of Hubei.

It is a new strain of coronavirus that can cause infection characterized by flu-like symptoms. The health signs can be mild but it can also be severe. Sadly, a person can be a carrier of the virus even without showing symptoms.

The 2019 novel coronavirus has taken away over 3,000 lives in China. The total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country also reached 81,000.

China is now recovering from the impacts of the coronavirus outbreak. Recently, another virus recorded in the Chinese nation are being reported by several news media outlets.

Based on a report on New York Post, a passenger who died while on a bus in China tested positive for “Hantavirus” – a disease that can be obtained from exposure to the waste and body fluids of rats or mice.

The said man who died while on a bus was from the province of Yunnan, China according to the report. Citing Global Times’ tweet, he was with 32 other passengers in the bus. All the other passengers were also tested for hantavirus.

There are still no details with regards to the results of the tests conducted on the other bus passengers. Meanwhile, according to Swedish scientist Dr. Sumaiya Shaikh, a “human-human transmission is rare”.

Dr. Shaikh advises the public not to panic. She stressed that there is no need for worries unless there is a plan to eat rats.
