Meanwhile, a Twitter post from Dr. Shahnawaz B. Kaloo, clarified some of the wrong perceptions of the netizens regarding the Hantavirus. He said that aside from it is not a new virus, it also does not usually spread from person to person. According to the doctor, the said virus from mice/rats can be controlled. Controlling the pests can also mean controlling the virus.

Dr. Kaloo added that the Hantavirus is not going to spread like the new coronavirus. He even added a humourous line in his post: “rats don’t take international flight and rarely take ships.”

Another doctor corrected some wrong concepts about the Hantavirus. Dr. Sumaiya Shaikh said, “The #Hantavirus first emerged in [the] 1950s in the American-Korean war in Korea (Hantan river). It spreads from [rats]/mice if humans [ingest] their body fluids. Human-human transmission is rare. There were even vaccines developed for it. Please do not panic, unless you plan to eat rats.”
