Sarangani Hit by Earthquake with 4.0 Magnitude
EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 4.0 magnitude quake in Sarangani, March 25, 2020.
Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.
One of the strong quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.
Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking were felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“.
Phivolcs recorded a 5.6 magnitude quake in Makilala, North Cotabato at around 8 pm on July 9. It was followed by several aftershocks.
Recently, a quake has hit a part of Davao Occidental. At 09:43 am, March 25, 2020, Sarangani was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.0.
According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 03.10°North, 128.26°East – 403 km South 50° East of Sarangani. The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 248 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in a bulletin that there are no expected damages caused by the quake and as well as aftershocks. No intensity was recorded of the said quake.
