Two Chinese Nationals Arrested For Selling Overpriced Masks

CHINESE NATIONALS – Two Chinese nationals were arrested after getting caugt red-handed for selling overprices face masks.

According to PhilStar, the arrest occurred in Pasay City over the weekend.

Maj. Joel Napoloen Coronel, director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group said that the two Chinese, identified as Wang Yong Yi and Caroline Cheng Lee were arrested, as well as their companion Bernadette Santos. This was during an entrapment operationalong Protacio street in Barangay 97 in the city.

Police reports show that the three suspects allegedly sold face masks at about ₱1,700 per box.

The Department of Trade and Industry, as well as the Department of Health set the standard retail price of face mask at ₱28 per piece.

As per the report, police said that the three suspects sold at about 5,110 boxes of face masks which worth about ₱86 million.
