Kind-hearted Citizens in Davao Gives Food Packs to Tricycle, Jeepney Drivers
Kind-hearted resident in Davao City earned praise online after spotted giving free food packs to tricycle and jeepney drivers amid pandemic crisis.
As the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) continues to spread in the country, President Rodrigo Duterte declared the country to be under the state of calamity and ordered other regions to implement community quarantine.
With this, local residents and workers feel the burden of its financial impact. Amid the ongoing community quarantine in Davao City when everyone is ordered to stay at home, tricycle and jeepney drivers found themselves with little income.
While other Filipino citizens stays at home and others are busy bashing the current administration for its prevention action, there are kind citizens who are willing to risk their health just to help out others in need.
Recently, a concerned netizen named Allan Sitjar shared an inspiring actions of group of a kind-hearted residents he encounters along the street of Davao. he was surprised to see a group of people along Barangay Ma-a road handing out food packs to passing tricycle and jeepney drivers.
He wrote in his Facebook post, “Saw these people at Maa handing out goods to tricycle and jeepney drivers. No agendas, no political shit. Just citizens trying to do their part. This is how we should act during crisis.”
Among those generous and kind men is Stephen Guilaran, who didn’t mind health risk on the road just to share his blessings as they packed noodles and canned goods for the drivers.
Speaking in Visayan, he wrote, “Sa panahon sa crisis, Dili angay magdinalo. For PUJ and tricycle drivers. Godbless.” (In times of crisis, we should not be greedy.)
He also calls out other netizens if they could lend some of their goods and other necessities for donation to the people who are badly affected by the community quarantine. He also added that money can still be earned but kindness and generosity will have a far greater impact to those in dire need.
Their photos have gone viral on social media as they earned praise from the netizens for their act of kindness and generosity. Lots of netizens express their gratitude towards Stephen.
