PUI Waiting For Test Result Dies in Palawan

PUI – A person under investigation (PUI) in Palawan died while waiting for his test results for coronavirus.

The total confirmed coronavirus cases in the Philippines continue to increase. President Rodrigo Road Duterte has placed the entire country under a state of calamity for six (6) months.

Twelve (12) COVID-19 patients in the country died during the treatment. The deadly disease is causing fear and panic buying of medical supplies.

A person under investigation (PUI) died while waiting for his test results for COVID-19 disease on Wednesday, March 18. Chief Information Officer Richard Ligad announced the death of the 37-year-old man in Palawan through Facebook Live.

The PUI has no record in the official tracker of the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU) of DOH. Based on a report from Inquirer, the head of the DOH-RESU, Noel Orosco said the PUI was not part of the official tracker. He said their agency received the data late.

According to the report, the PUI was admitted to a government hospital on March 16. Doctor Melecio Dy said the man was isolated after learning he recently traveled to Manila. They took samples from the PUI on March 17.

The PUI also had another pre-existing serious health infection said, Dy. “He said because of severe respiratory distress, and his body was treated as highly infectious disease,” he said.

Based on the report, DOH-RESU said Palawan remained free from coronavirus as of 1 pm Wednesday.

In a previous article, a Filipina nurse became a person under investigation after she spent two weeks caring for patients at a hospital. She tested positive but had no signs and symptoms of the disease.
