GrabFood and Foodpanda Resume Operations Amid Enhanced Community Quarantine
GRABFOOD – Food delivery service GrabFood and Foodpanda resume their operations amid “enhanced community quarantine” in Luzon.
Earlier today, March 12, GrabFood and Food Panda announced the temporary suspension of their services line with the implementation of the “enhanced community quarantine” in Luzon imposed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
The Philippine government implemented a band on private and public transportation throughout Luzon to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The quarantine starts on March 16 until April 13.
The President of Grab Philippines, Brian Cu, was quick to respond to the President’s order with a post on his Facebook Page. “Alinsunod sa directive ng DOTr regarding sa Enhanced Community Quarantine na ipapatupad sa Luzon, nais po naming ipagbigay alam sa inyo na lahat ng ating mga Grab services—GrabCar, GrabTrike, GrabFood, GrabExpress, etc.—sa buong Luzon ay pansamantala po nating ihihinto starting March 17, 12MN upang pahalagahan ang kalusugan at kaligtasan ng bawat isa,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, Foodpanda immediately informed its users: “We’re unable right now. Foodpanda has suspended its services in Luzon until further notice…”
At around 1 pm today, Brian Cu made an announcement on Facebook. He confirmed that they are back and allowed to take orders and delivering them after their meeting with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Foodpanda also shared the good news on its Facebook Page.
“As clarified by the leadership of the Department of Trade and Industry, foodpanda is allowed to operate along with other food services platforms as providers of basic necessities…”
“In light of this recent mandate, we would like to reassure you that foodpanda continues to operate as usual with free delivery on every order.”|
