GrabFood, FoodPanda Halt Food Delivery Services in Luzon

GRABFOOD – Food delivery players GrabFood and FoodPanda halt their services amid the “enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.

Food delivery services have been a godsend in the past months because it undoubtedly saves us time. Lots of people love this especially to people who don’t have time to cook or prepare their food.

But due to the novel coronavirus crisis (COVID-19) crisis, people are faced with a very difficult situation. Governments are imposing tough restrictions to stop the spread of the virus from China. They ordered the public to practice social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Food delivery GrabFood and Foodpanda decided to pause their service in Luzon temporarily to help curb the spread of the coronavirus. On March 16, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte placed Luzon under “enhanced community quarantine.” The toughening up on measures comes after the people were unable to follow the government’s instructions.

Foodpanda wrote on its app that they have “suspended [their] services in Luzon until further notice.”

GrabFood took to social media to announce the temporary suspension of their service. Based on the caption, they stated that they will be pausing their GrabExpress, GrabTrike, GrabCar, and GrabFood operations in Luzon. Grab services will be temporarily suspended starting “March 17 until further notice.

“To safeguard our communities from the threat of COVID-19, we are pausing our GrabCar, GrabFood, GrabExpress, and GrabTrike operations in Luzon from March 17 until further notice. We are one with the government in combating the viral spread, and are working with the different government agencies to find ways to continue serving the needs of Filipinos during these times.Keep safe, #FlattenTheCurve.
