According to Panay News, the governor made the statement after he issued an Executive Order over the weekend implementing protocols against COVID-19.

Lacson said in a press conference on March 14 that all passengers coming from Metro Manila will be counted as Persons Under Monitoring (PUMs) and will undergo a 14-day home quarantine.

The quarantine will be supervised by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) as well as the component municipal or city health office where they were stationed.

As for major and public events, they will be left under the discretion of local chief executives if they would be postponed or suspend.

The health office will also set up a hotline for COVID-19, whoch would be held by competent medical staff.

Lacson said that they will not have a problem about the number of individuals entering the province despite the border-closing of other neighboring provinces, as the flow of supplies such as food and medicine are more concerned.

“We still don’t have a community quarantine because we didn’t reach the required threshold of two confirmed Covid-19 patients, so there is no community quarantine [for now],”

Police Colonel Romeo Baleros, director of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, said that they haven’t received any orders from the national headquarters over border control.

Baleros said that their personnel and resources are fully-prepared.

As per the report, Lacson said that the councilor of Toboso who was under monitor for suspected COVID-19 infection is now “feeling better” at the hospital.

He added that the councilor even asked for a burger to eat, which the governor think is a good sign.

The councilor, however, was urged to remain at the hospital until his swab test are released,

As of the moment, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Ernell Tumimbang said that there are three PUIs in the porvince as of Saturday who are staying at the hospital and 69 more who are considered PUMs.
