Diliman Doctors Hospital 67-Year-Old Patient Test Positive for Coronavirus
A 67-year-old patient at the Diliman Doctors Hospital has tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 after showing symptoms of the virus.
On Sunday evening (March 15, 2020), the Diliman Doctors Hospital confirmed that a male patient admitted to the hospital was infected by the coronavirus. The patient was admitted last March 11 due to fever, cough, and breathing difficulty.
The hospital is already implementing strict infection control protocols. The health authorities are already conducting extensive contact tracing to the individuals who were exposed to the patient before he was admitted to the hospital.
DDH also assured the public that the Quezon City-based hospital is prepared to handle coronavirus cases. The health institution also urged the public to be vigilant and be aware of their surroundings during this health crisis.
“Our facility is properly equipped to handle such cases following the latest protocols and guidelines of the Department of Health (DOH). Our Infection Prevention and Control Committee has been in constant coordination with the management, health workers and other personnel in the proper handling of this patient,” DDH management said.
However, it was still unclear if the DDH patient was among the 140 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines.
