The House of Representatives employee with COVID-19 passed away
The employee of the House of Representatives who was tested positive of 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) passed away.
On Sunday, March 15, the chamber’s secretary-general related this sad news, based on the report from ABS-CBN. According to House secretary-general, Jose Luis Montales, the said employee worked at the chamber’s printing service department.
In a separate statement to media, PBA Party List Rep. Jericho Nograles said, “At this point, let’s take a moment and pray for his soul and his family.” Nograles asked the House secretary-general to immediately conduct contact tracing.
“Let’s be mindful of any symptoms and do our part on the community quarantine guidelines,” the representative added.
Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque stated that he will validate if the said employee of the House of Representatives was among the 8 fatalities related to COVID-19 in the Philippines, based on the report.
Last Thursday, President Rodrigo Duterte already placed the country under a state of public health emergency and the Metro Manila is now under community quarantine.
This situation to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus is from March 15 until April 14. With this, various aspects of life have been affected. The tourism industry experienced a downfall as well as the entertainment industry as shootings and tapings were postponed.
As of March 14 update from the health agency, there are 12 new cases of COVID-19 infection that were recorded in the country. DOH is strongly urging the public to cooperate in preventing the spread of the virus.
The recent post of the health department stated: “We continually ask the public to cooperate and help us in the investigation and contact tracing activities. Please contact DOH and call the designated hotline at (02) 8-651-7800 loc 1149-1150 for any new leads.”
