Police Caught Thai Workers Caught Recycling “Used Face Masks” & Resell It As If They Were New
Thai workers were caught recycling and ironing “Used Face Masks” and reselling it to the customers amid coronavirus outbreak.
The Thailand police authorities raided a house in the Saraburi province, north of Bangkok after receiving a tip that severe workers were recycling used face masks, so they could resell it to the people.
The workers have been found placing the used face masks in a washing machine and ironing them to make it look ‘Brand New’. The employees were selling it again as if they were new due to the increasing demand for surgical masks.
The authorities recovered thousands of masks and taken to a local health department for further investigation. One of the suspects revealed that the used face masks came from an unidentified dealer.
The recycled face masks were sold for the price of One Thai Baht ($0.05 AUD). The workers could sell around 300 to 400 masks per day.
The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is currently spreading in different countries all around the world and affected thousands of people worldwide. The health scare is already causing fear and panic to the public.
The World Health Organisation advised the public to observe proper hygiene, regular washing of hands, and wearing face masks to avoid being infected by the disease.
