2 PNP Generals ‘Unconscious,’ ‘In ‘Critical’ Condition After Laguna Helicopter Crash

LAGUNA HELICOPTER CRASH – Two Philippine National Police generals are still unconscious after the Laguna helicopter crash.

Following a previous article, the helicopter carrying Philippine National Police Chief Archie Gamboa crashed in San Pedro, Laguna on Thursday morning. He and his companions were rushed to the hospital.

Reports said that the helicopter got tangled with the powerlines minutes after they took off. Senator Bato Dela Rosa said the chopper was new.

PNP Chief Archie Gamboa and his companions were safe after their air vessel crashed in a residential area. Meanwhile, two PNP generals are unconscious and in critical condition.

Based on a report from Inquirer, PNP deputy director for administration, Lt. Gen. Camilo Cascolan, said Maj. Gen Jose Maria Ramos, Director for Comptrollership, and Maj. Gen. Mariel Magaway, PNP Director for Intelligence are in critical condition.

According to the report, the two PNP generals are currently confined at the Unihealth Southwoods Hospital and Medical Center in Laguna. The director of PNP Directorate for Police Community Relations (DPCR) Maj. General Benigno Durana confirmed the situation of the two-high-ranking police generals in a press conference at St. Luke’s Medical Center at the Bonifacio Global City (BCG) in Taguig City.

“Si General Magaway and si General Ramos ay nasa critical condition and they are being well taken care of by our doctors based in Laguna,” he said.

Based on the report, former PNP Chief Bato Dela Rosa visited Archie Gamboa at St. Luke’s hospital. Both of them are graduates of the PMA Sinagtala Class of 1986. The PNP chief sustained an abrasion on his right shoulder.

Aside from the 2 PNP generals and Gamboa, the chopper also carried Capt. Gayramara, Brig. Bernard Banac, Senior Master Sergeant Estona, pilot Lt. Col. Zalatar; and co-pilot Lt. Col. Macawili.
