Juan Karlos, Gloc-9 Releases Heartbreaking New Song “Sampaguita”

JUAN KARLOS – Rapper Gloc-9 and rock band Juan Karlos finally released their heartbreaking song about overseas Filipino workers (OFW) “Sampaguita“.

Filipino singer-songwriter JK Labajo is the frontman of Juan Karlos band. The band is composed of JK on vocals, Clark Henriel Cunanan on bass and Gian Franco Rey-Hipolito on drums.

The 19-year-old musician gained prominence after joining ABS-CBN’s reality singing competition ‘The Voice Kids.’ He is currently dating model Maureen Wroblewitz.

Last February 11, JK teased on his Instagram account that he has been “cooking” something with the prominent rapper Gloc-9. “chef jk and chef gloc cooking something. Coming in hot this month xo,” he wrote.

Gloc-9 also shared the behind-the-scenes photos during the shoot of their music video. It came with a caption, “Panahon uli ng pagtatanim… malapit na.”

Their song was released in the first hour of February 28. You can now check their new song titled “Sampaguita” on several music streaming platforms. Millions of Filipinos will surely love their first-ever song together.

JK Labajo and Gloc-9 team up to pay tribute to overseas Filipino workers. The song opens with Gloc-9 expressing his feelings about having to work away from his family.

“Anak, kaarawan mo na ulit / ‘Wag mong kalimutang suotin ang bago mong damit / Tandaan mo lagi kahit ‘di tayo magkalapit / Naaalala ka ni tatay tuwing ako’y pumipikit.”

JK delivered a soulful chorus singing “Kahit saan man mapadpad / Sa’yo pa rin ako babalik, giliw / Sa halimuyak ng ‘yong paboritong sampaguita.”
