Panelo Visits Wake of Salvacion Gerona, VP Leni Robredo’s Mother
PANELO – Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo visited the wake of Vice President Leni Robredo’s mother Salvacion Gerona.
Vice President Leni Robredo’s mother Salvacion Gerona died on Saturday, February 22. She was a teacher by profession and a former dean of Universidad de Sta. Isabel in Naga City, one of the country’s oldest schools.
Aside from being a teacher, she is also a painter and does some charity work. Gerona was a devotee of Our Lady of Peñafrancia.
Based on a report from Rappler, Malacañang sent its condolences to VP Leni Robredo on February 23. “We wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to Vice President Ma. Leonor ‘Leni’ Robredo for the passing of her beloved mother, Ms. Salvacion Gerona. In this time of bereft, we also offer our thoughts and sympathy to the family, relatives and friends of Ms. Gerona,” it said in a statement.
Malacañang praised the late teacher for being a “selfless and dedicated teacher who molded countless of young minds across generations.”
Malacañang spokesperson Salvador Panelo visited the wake of Salvacion Gerona on Thursday morning in Naga City, Camarines Sur. Like Leni Robredo, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s spokesman hails from Naga City.
Based on a report GMA News, the spokesperson said the chief executive’s workload prevented him from visiting the wake of Robredo’s mother.
According to the report, a day before Salvador Panelo’s visit, Leni Robredo’s allies from the Liberal Party visited her mom’s wake. These included Senator Francis Pangilinan, Senator Franklin Drilon, former Senator Bam Aquino, and former DILG Secretary Mar Roxas.
