Health Officials Warns Men to Shave Off Beards Amid COVID-19 Outbreak
Health officials warns men with a beard to shave it off because wearing face masks makes it useless amid the coronavirus or now called COVID-19.
Having mustaches or beards could put you at risk for contracting coronavirus. According to health experts, most members of the public use their medical masks wrong. Often, people will touch their facemask to adjust it or take it off, rendering its germ-blocking potential ineffective.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the US has just released new information. Advising anyone with facial hair to shave them off as it can interfere with the protective face mask.
Apparently, some styles of facial hair are safe but some of them are not, especially those that will come into contact with the mask around the chin area. This prevents the mask from creating an effective seal around the wearers’ faces which can be dangerous.
Some popular facial hairstyles that will interfere with the face mask include ducktail, full beard, Van Dyke and chin curtain. The safe options are some mustaches that do not cross the mask’s seal, such as soul patch, pencil, walrus, handlebar, and lampshade.
The COVID-19 scare raise to high level of awareness as experts revealed and claimed that the spread of the virus is airborne, which can be transferred through aerosol transmission or inhaling.
