Class Suspensions Due to North Cotabato Quake on Thursday (February 27)
WALANG PASOK – Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph Evangelista declared class suspensions in all levels due to magnitude 4.5 earthquake.
On Thursday (February 27, 2020), a 4.5 magnitude earthquake struck North Cotabato and its nearby areas. The tremor has been recorded at 9:04 am with its epicenter located 55 kilometers west of Cotabato’s Makilala town.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said that there are no aftershocks are expected and no damage has been recorded after the quake. The tectonic quake was felt in Kidapawan City and Tulunan, Cotabato at a depth of 11 kilometers.
Recently, Kidapawan City hall and the town governments of adjacent Makilala and Magpet announced the suspension of classes in the quake-affected areas. The class cancellation has been made to ensure the safety of the students.
Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph Evangelista ordered the suspension of classes in all levels. He also suspends the works in public offices to prevent the possible loss of lives.
Meanwhile, the municipal government of Makilala also suspends the classes in elementary and high schools. The local government unit also gives discretion to the public and private establishments to follow the order.
