Davao Oriental Hit by Earthquake with 3.5 Magnitude
EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 3.5 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental, February 25, 2020.
Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.
Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking were felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“.
Phivolcs recorded a 5.6 magnitude quake in Makilala, North Cotabato at around 8 pm on July 9. It was followed by several aftershocks.
Recently, a quake has hit a part of Davao Oriental. At 07:34 am today, February 25, 2020, Governor Generoso was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.5.
According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Davao Oriental was located at 05.93°North, 126.76°East – 110 km South 44° East of Governor Generoso. The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 001 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that there are no expected damages caused by the quake. The quake-recording agency did not warn of possible aftershocks as well.
