ABS-CBN President Carlo Katigbak apologized to President Duterte to what they have done to him way back 2016.

ABS-CBN PRESIDENT – ABS-CBN Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer Carlo Katigbak apologized to President Rodrigo Duterte.

As much as we are all aware of, President Rodrigo Duterte has always been vocal about blocking the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN which is set to expire this March 2020. This is after the network has received funds from him but did not aired his political ads way back 2016 during the presidential election. Accordingly, they aired ads against him.

Thus, the network now is struggling to push through their renewal. And in a hearing that happened in February 24, ABS-CBN Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer Carlo Katigbak apologized to the president and made an explanation.

Accordingly, they are sorry and that is not the intention of the network. They were just abiding the “the laws and regulations that surround the airing of political ads.” The network has no political agenda and admitted that they were not able to air his political ads worth Php 7-million.

Furthermore, they offered politicians two kinds of political ads: a national ad seen in all over the country and a local ad which is seen in particular provinces. And Duterte accordingly placed Php 117-million for his national ads and they were able to air 100% of it.

He said, “‘Dun sa local ads nagkaproblema kami because we only have 2 minutes of airtime per hour. In the case of local ads, the President placed an order of Php 65-million worth of spots of which we failed to air Php 7-million worth.”

It was on first come, first served basis and many have already took spots even before Duterte did. He added as per GMA, “Of the Php 7-million na hindi namin na ere, we were able to refund approximately Php 4-million to the President and it was accepted.”

Meanwhile, they got delayed in refunding the Php 2.6-million which was not accepted by the president.
