More and more Filipino celebrities are joining the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Among the stars who are part of the AFP reserves are Gerald Anderson, Dingdong Dantes, Ejay Falcon, and Matteo Guidicelli.
The AFP enlist celebrities to inspire the young Filipinos to serve the country. Little did we know that there are also female celebrities who joined the reserve force.
Based on a report from Rappler, the politician and iconic actress, Vilma Santos, became part of the Philippine Air Force reservist in 2012. She’s holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. While the actress-turned-politician, Lucy Torres, is a Master Sergeant with the Marine Reserves.
On Tuesday, Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 Winwyn Marquez took to her Instagram account to announce that she just signed up for Philippine Navy’s basic citizen’s military training. She was even welcomed by her fellow Kapuso star Rocco Nacino. The actor completed his Basic Civilian Military Training in October last year.
“People are asking me why I want to do this..I simply said because I want to..that’s it. No need for long explanations. We don’t need to justify what we want to do, we can just show them what we women CAN do.”
