The story, also known as Le Petit Prince in French, is a fable written by French aviator and writer Antoine De Saint-Exupery.
The story is about a little prince who travels the universe and gaining wisdom and encounters the narrator.

The narrator introduces himself as a man who learned that adults lack imagination and understanding. He is currently a pilot who crash-landed on a desert. He faced a small boy who asked him a drawing of a sheep, which he agreed.
The narrator learned that the boy he called the little prince came from a small planet, which he believed was asteroid B-612. The little prince then narrates his life,
The prince spent his time on the planet puling up boabab seedlings that might grow big and engulf the tiny planet. A rose grows on the planet, which the prince loved. As time goes by, the rose’s vanity and demands became too much for him that he left.
He traveled to a series of asteroids filed with grown-ups with a single function: One where a king who requires obedience but has no subjects; another is a conceited man who wants to be flattered; the third is a drunkard who wants to drink to forget how ashamed he is of drinking; the fourth was a businessman who said that he owns the stars, which makes it very important that he know exactly how many stars there are; the fifth was a lamplighter who follows orders that require him to light a lamp each evening and put it out each morning; the last one was a geographer who knew nothing of his planet. The geographer asked the little prince of his home planet, but the moment he mentioned the rose, the geographer says that flowers are not recorded because they are ephemeral, where he told the prince to visit Earth.
On Earth he meets a snake who told him that he can return him to his home; and a flower, who tells him that people lack roots.
He encountered a rose garden, and he finds it depressing to learn that his beloved rose is not, as she claimed, unique in the universe.
A fox he encountered told him that if he tamed the fox, then they will be unique and a source of joy to each other.
The narrator and the prince have spent eight days in the desert and have run out of water. They then traveled the desert in search of a well.
The little prince told the narrator that he plans to return to his planet and flower and that the stars will be meaningful to the narrator, because he will know that his friend is living on one of them. To return to the planet, the snake has to bite the little prince.
The narrator, six years from now, said that the prince’s body was missing in the morning, which the narrator wondered if the little prince did return to his planet, and whether the sheep that he drew him ate his flower. He ends by imploring the reader to contact him if they ever spot the little prince.
