Ricky Lee has these revelations about the movie ‘Servando Magdamag’ of John Lloyd Cruz
A-list actor John Lloyd Cruz is finally coming back to showbiz with his new film Servando Magdamag and award-wining scriptwriter Ricky Lee has revelations about this.
After his hiatus, fans of the actor are now excited to watch his upcoming film. His official showbiz comeback is through the said film which is a remake of the Palanca-award winning short story with the same title. Previously, the actor made a cameo appearance in the MMFF 2019 movie Culion.
Prominent director Lav Diaz works again with John Lloyd. It is not also the first time that Ricky Lee will work with the actor. They also did several projects in the past such as It Might Be You to Maging Sino Ka Man , based on PEP’s report.
In working with the A-list actor in Servando Magdamag, the scriptwriter revealedthat the role has been waiting for John Lloyd Cruz to say “yes”. “Years ago, sinasabi na ni Lav na bagay ito kay John Lloyd. Mga six or eight years ago,” Ricky Lee shared.
He also said that the role is really fit for the A-list actor. The story revolves around a family of hacienderos. JLC is the grandson who a haciendero who died. “Early January tapos na sila sa shooting. Nagkulong sila sa Bulacan. Nage-edit na siya (Lav Diaz) sa New York ang alam ko,” the scriptwriter added.
Ricky also pointed out the factors why the lead role was almost made for John Lloyd. “Bagay si John Lloyd dahil sa itsura…haciendero. Then age niya at mahusay si John Lloyd. Kaya niyang maging big star and yet being a big star does not stand in the way of his being a character and doing good acting. Hindi nakaharang ang image na big star,” he said.
When asked about the changes that he saw from the actor before his hiatus and after, Ricky said that it seems that the actor has long been wanting to get out of the box that people made for him.
Although JLC did remarkable things while inside that box, still there is a point that one will hunger for something, according to the scriptwriter. “Pero siyempre minsan, bigla kang magugutom, e, at mapunta sa ibang direksiyon. Na mag-risk at gumawa ng mga bagay na maybe mahusay mong magagawa or maybe hindi mo masyasong mahusay na magagawa pero maga-allow sa iyo na mag-grow,” he added.
Ricky Lee also said that he is thinking that John Lloyd Cruz is doing what he wants to do right now when it comes to his career and personal life, based on the article. Although the scriptwriter knows that he is not in the position to conclude but this is what he observes upon working again with the actor.
