Here’s a coronavirus update in the Philippines.

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE – Department of Health released on Monday the state of the 32 Filipinos from Wuhan and here’s an update in Philippines.

Department of Health (DOH) released the current state of the 32 Filipinos who were repatriated from the epicenter of the virus, Wuhan City in Central China. This happened amid the alarming outbreak. They are placed in a quarantine area located in Tarlac to which caused panic from the people surrounding the location. They have arrived at Athletes’ Village in Capas, Tarlac last Saturday.

To ease the wave of panic, DOH stated that all Filipinos from Wuhan showed no symptoms, so far, of the coronavirus. DOH Spokesperson and Undersecretary Eric Domingo told DZMM that all of them were healthy. He added, “Health workers will be deployed to monitor and allay the fears of communities surrounding the Athletes’ Village.”

Meanwhile, a Chinese billionaire whistleblower, amid the rumors that the real death toll due to the virus is being kept from the public, revealed that the death from the virus might have possibly reached over 50,000. However, China confirmed 900 deaths due to the virus and some 40,000 cases.

Now, here are some update about this case in the Philippines according to ASEAN briefing as of February 9:

  • First case in the country from a Chinese woman, now showed no symptoms of the virus.
  • Second case has been confirmed.
  • A third case has been confirmed. Domestic workers from Hong Kong and China quarantined for 14 days.
  • First death outside China has been recorded to have happened in the country. The victim was a 44-year old Chinese from Wuhan. Reportedly, he was infected before he came to the Philippines and died on a hospital in Manila.
  • To date, 284 persons have been probed for the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).
