Quezon City Fire Left With Elderly Couple Dead On Wednesday
QUEZON CITY – A fire broke out at a house in Quezon City on Wednesday morning, where it left with an elderly couple dead.
According to PhilSar, the fatalities were identified as Cresencio Catig, aged 66, and Salvacion Catig, aged 63. Their remains were retrieved in the restroom of their house along Neptune street in Barangay Kaligayahan. Arson investigators said that the Catig couple died from suffocation.
City fire marshal Senior Superintendent Jaime Ramirez reported that the blaze began at the kitchen at past 4 AM. He said that the couple went to the toilet as they could not get out of the house.
Arson probers said that they have yet to know the cause of the fire, which destroyed property worth at around ₱30,000.
As per the report, another fire struck a residential area at the Baseco Compound which left with one man dead and 600 families displaced.
The fatality was identified as Gino Escobedo, a jeepney driver 42 years of age. He was trapped due to being drunk, according to Roberto Samillano Jr., deputy Fire Marshall.
The fire also injured Fire volunteer Keneth Thomas and a boy, 17 years of age, with lacerations.
The fire began at about 11 PM, Tuesday, and reached Task Force Bravo after midnight on Wednesday. It was declared under control before 3 AM.
The fire destroyed at about 300 houses. Damage to property was place at about ₱2 million.
