Chinese Tourists Who Are Quarantined In Romblon Thanks Filipinos For Warm Hospitality

CHINESE TOURISTS – The four Chinese tourists who are quarantined in Romblon thanked the Filipinos for their hospitality.

The 2019 novel coronavirus originated in Wuhan, China, a city with 11 million people is under lockdown to stop the spread of the deadly virus. Several counties decided to stop accepting direct flights from the epicenter of the virus.

In a previous article, Liaison officer to Boracay Perter Tay said they wonder why and how the Chinese nationals arrive in Boracay Island despite travel ban. The authorities are closely monitoring 429 Chinese who have been to mainland China 14 days before they entered the Philippines.

Peter Tay also said all Chinese restaurants in Boracay island are closed amid coronavirus outbreak. He said the owners felt they are no longer welcome on the island. Racism and fear are spreading along with the virus.

Despite the resentment and discrimination against Chinese, four Chinese tourists, who are quarantined in San Andres District Hospital in Romblon, left a letter for the Filipinos expressing their gratitude and appreciation for their hospitality.

Based on a report from GMA News, the four Chinese tourists also apologize to the Filipino because their visit caused trouble panic. The province ordered a mandatory quarantine to all visitors from Hubei Province in China on February 1.

“First of all, please allow be say sorry to all of you for bringing you so much trouble and panic. It’s our fault to travel at this special occasion just during the period of the disease. Please just forgive us.”

The Chinese arrived in the Philippines on January 27 and went straight to Lucena Quezon and board a Roro going to Marinduque and Romblon.

According to the report, the four Chinese tourists also apologized to the owner of the resort. “Besides, I must sincerely apologize to the family of the owner of Footprint Beach. We’ve just caused too much panic and worries to your beautiful wife and your lovely kids. You are really a nice man who just ride a long way to bring food to those who once troubled you a lot.”

The letter came with a drawing of the beach and a message that said “thank you! I love you all!”

The provincial health officer of Romblon, Dra. Ederlina Aguirre, said the four Chinese are showing no symptoms of coronavirus infection.
