TANAGA EXAMPLE – In this article, we are going to take a look at some examples of the Tanaga or Filipino short poems.
A “tanaga” consists of four lines with seven syllables each with a rhyme at ending each line. However, this varies depending on the rhyme schemes.
Here are some examples using the rhyme scheme, AABB:
Tumatawag sa langit
Sana ay ‘wag ma galit
Tadhana’y makita
Malimot pagdududa
Ang pusong malimutin
Sana ay baliktarin
At hindi na aalis
Ang ngiti mong matamis.
Here are some examples using the rhyme scheme, AAAA:
Ang hating-gabing kulay
Tulad ng aking buhay
Kailan magkakatunay
Ang pag-ibig na tunay?
Ikaw lang, walang iba
Ikaw lang nakikita
Ng aking mata, Sinta
At sana’y maniwala
Here are some examples using the rhyme scheme, ABAB:
Sa aking buhay na ‘to
Wala nang umiiba
Ngunit sa pagdating mo
Mundo ko ay nagiba
Isang punong mataas
Walang tinatakutan
Siya ay may angking lakas
Ngunit di masamahan
