Negros Oriental Announces Class Suspension in Public Schools Amid nCoV (Feb 5-7)

WALANG PASOK – The local government unit of Negros Oriental has declared class suspensions in public school amid the novel coronavirus.

Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo issued an executive order declaring the cancellation of classes in all levels in public schools starting Wednesday (February 5, 2020) until Friday (February 7, 2020).

Degamo issued the executive order on Tuesday (February 4) as a part of the precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the deadly virus. He also said that private schools may also suspend their classes.

Earlier, Silliman University in Dumaguete City also announced that they will conduct their classes online from preschool to senior high school starting today.

The 2019 novel coronavirus has been one of the most discussed topics not only in the Philippines but also in different countries all around the world. The deadly disease is currently spreading rapidly worldwide.

Last week, the Department of Health confirmed the first case of coronavirus in the Philippines. A 38-year-old Chinese woman is the virus carrier and her 43-year-old partner also died due to the virus.

According to the reports, the couple visited Cebu and Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental. The health authorities are already assessing the tricycle driver hired by the Chinese couple.
