Los Angeles Lakers Pay Tribute to NBA Star Kobe Bryant
KOBE BRYANT – Staples Center was a sea of Kobe Bryant’s jerseys as Los Angeles Lakers play their first game after the helicopter crash.
National Basketball Association (NBA) legend Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant were among the 9 people who died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California on Sunday. His family, fellow athletes, and fans around the world mourn his death.
In a previous article, an African Pastor claimed that he can resurrect the basketball icon and his daughter if they give him $50 million. Meanwhile, 2 million fans signed a petition to replace the NBA logo with Kobe’s image.
Kobe Bryant’s friend LeBron James finally spoke to the public following his untimely death. On his Instagram post, he promised to take the baton from the basketball icon and bring their team Los Angels Lakers back to the top.
The late LA Lakers player won his first of five titles at the Staples Center in 2000. He was inextricably linked to the multi-purpose arena in Los Angeles. It is often called “The House That Kobe Built.”
On Friday, January 31, Los Angeles Lakers hosted the Portland Trail Blazer in their 1st game since Kobe’s death. Based on a report from the Washington Post, the Staples Center transformed into a giant shrine for the late basketball icon.
LeBron James capped an emotional pregame tribute by saluting to the NBA legend, competitor, future Hall of Famer, and father.
“At some point we will have a memorial for Kobe, but I look at this as a celebration tonight… this is a celebration of the 20 years of the blood, the sweat, the tears, the broken-down body. The determination to be as great as he could be. Tonight, we celebrate the kid who came here at 18 years of age, retired at 38 and became probably the best dad we’ve seen over the last three years,” LeBron said.
