Wuhan Virus Confirmed In Japan But Not Linked To China Travel

WUHAN VIRUS IN JAPAN – Previously, all confirmed cases outside of China had one thing in common, the patients have had a history of recent travel to China.

However, in Japan, the first case of the coronavirus not linked to recent travel to China was confirmed by health authorities.

On Tuesday, their government confirmed more cases of the Wuhan coronavirus. This included a tour bus driver who had never set foot in Wuhan, China.

With these new confirmed cases, the total number of infected in Japan has reached six. According to an article from ABS-CBN, the bus driver who was in his 60s drove two groups of Chinese tourists from Wuhan in early January.

Following this, the driver was diagnosed with pneumonia on Saturday and had been hospitalized at the Nara Prefecture where he lived.

Meanwhile, the other newly confirmed cases is of a man in his 40s from Wuhan. He had been in Japan since January 20. Much like the bus driver, he also developed pneumonia.

As per the article, the health ministry of Japan had stated that they are checking the health condition of people who had come in contact with the two new patients.

In Mainland China, the number of infected has skyrocketed to more than 4600. Along with this, there have been 106 confirmed deaths.

Authorities in Hubei stated that an additional 1,300 cases were confirmed. This sums up the number of cases in the province to 2,700.

Moreover, the majority of those infected are being treated in hospitals. However, more than 124 of those are in critical condition.
