A convenience store staff shares a heartbreaking encounter with a poor elderly man who was wearing makeshift support for his injured leg.

Recently, concerned convenience store staff in Albay named Alwin Binaday shared his heartbreaking encounter with a poor elderly man who entered the store at 3 am in the morning while carrying a half-filled sack with an umbrella sticking out from it.

He said that at his first glance on the old man he hesitated on letting him enter the store because of his looks. Clad in a white shirt and a worn-out jersey shorts, the man, who was later identified as Junior Miguel Brizuela, 65, of Buang, Tabaco City in Albay, bought a bottle of water and cup noodles.

Seemingly hungry, he silently ate his meal on one of the tables inside the store. For Binaday, it was an emotional scene to witness because Brizuela appeared not only on a pair of worn-out clothes but with makeshift leg support for his injury.

While watching the old man eating, Binaday didn’t hesitate to ask about his pitiful situation. His leg was wrapped in plastic that seemed to cause him to use a cane while walking.

Brizuela told Binaday that he sustained the leg injury after falling to the river. Due to financial constraints, he was unable to get it checked.

The old man told Beniday that he was from Buang, Tabaco City and he was selling candles. He also added that he was left alone in life and left behind by his wife and children.

The story of the old man touched a lot of hearts on social media as it has gone viral. netizens express their reactions to the pitiful situation of the 65-year-old man.
