Health Authorities Confirms 6th Death Due To The Coronavirus Outbreak From Wuhan, China
CHINA CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK – Officials in China are on high-alert as they try to contain the outbreak of a new strain of coronavirus.
In a previous article, we could recall that the virus was confirmed to be able to spread between humans. Due to this, the virus has spread to 300 people as confirmed by Chinese health officials.
In addition, the death toll due to the virus rose to six on Tuesday evening. This was after the Municipal Health Commission confirmed that a 66-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman died on January 20.
According to an article from CNN, at the end of Monday, there were 60 new cases confirmed. The youngest of the infected was 15-years-old.
Following this, on Tuesday, there were 77 new cases reported. This sums up to 307 cases of individuals infected with the new China coronavirus.
Meanwhile, as China races to contain the virus, the United States had already confirmed its first case of the China coronavirus. However, the virus was not detected due to airport screenings.
Instead, the patient infected with the virus in the US arrived on January 15 before airport screenings began. Because of this, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are tracking those who came in contact with the patient.
As per the report, the National Institutes of Health in the US is working for a vaccine for the new virus. However, they stated that it could take a few months for the first clinical trials to begin.
In addition, it would take more than a year until a vaccine might be available to the public. Scientists in Texas, New York, and China are also working towards getting a vaccine.
