PAGASA – Latest Update On January 16, 2020 (Thursday)

PAGASA – Weather bureau PAGASA said that the northeast monsoon will affect Luzon while the tail end of a cold front will affect east Visayas.

The bureau said that the tail end of a cold front will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Sorsogon, Masbate and Samar porovinces. Flash floods or landslides might occur especially during heavy rains.

A report from GMA News states that the northeast monsoon or amihan, will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, Quezon, and the rest of Bicol Region. Occasional gusts might occur especially in coastal and mountainous areas.

Amihan, along with volcanic activity, will bring cloudy skies with isolated rains over Batangas and Cavite. Isolated thunderstorms might occur in the vicinity of the volcano and there wll be low visibility due to ashfall.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will face partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to amihan. Intermittent strong winds might occur especially in coastal and mountainous areas.

The rest of Philippines will face partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms. The bureau warned of flash floods or landslides especially during severe thunderstorms.

As per the report, for the wind speed forecast, northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Visayas will have moderate to strong winds moving northeastward with moderate to rough coastal waters.

The rest of the country will have light to moderate winds moving in the northeast with light to moderate coastal waters.
