How true is it that VP Leni Robredo avoided hugging an elderly woman?
A video circulated on social media which made the impression that Vice President Leni Robredo avoided hugging an elderly woman.
Robredo, through her foundation, provided food packs for the victims of the Taal volcano eruption. She led the organization Angat Buhay in this charitable endeavor for the evacuees. Because of this, she received praise from many people. The Vice President visited also the affected communities that were mostly covered by ashes.
One of the videos of her visit to evacuees circulated on social media. However, this created a negative impact on her image. The video showed that the second high-ranking official in the Philippines entered the evacuation center.
An elderly woman approached her who was gesturing a hug towards her. However, VP Leni Robredo extended her arm, so it appeared that it was not completely a hug. Twitter user @DensBraganza shared this video on the micro-blogging site with this caption: “Gusto sana siyang i hug ni Lola. Pero iwas si Madam. (Sad emoji) Tapos sabi ng iba si PRRD daw ang walang empathy. B*llshyt di ba?”
