President Duterte Finally Signs 2019 Gratuity Pay for Job Order & Contractual Employees in Government

President Rodrigo Duterte has finally signed the 2019 Gratuity Pay for job order and contractual employees in the government.

On Thursday (January 16, 2020), Malacañang Palace has finally released the Administrative Order No. 20, which has been signed by President Duterte. The order approves the release of funds to cover the Gratuity Pay of government’s contractual workers for last year.

The Administrative Order states that all job orders and contractual employees who were serving for at least four months may receive an amount not exceeding P3,000 each. Workers who have “satisfactory performance of services” rating as of December 15, 2019 are entitled to gratuity pay.

Workers who have rendered less than four months of service would receive an amount not exceeding P2,000 while employees serving for less than two months would receive an amount not more than P1,000.

President Duterte is also encouraging the local government units to provide gratuity pay to job order and contractual workers. Mr. Duterte explained that gratuity pay is a recognition of the employee’s hard work.

Granting a year-end gratuity pay to JO and COS [contract of service] workers is a well-deserved recognition of their hard work,” Duterte said.
