NDRRMC – About 36,000 People Evacuated During Taal Eruption
NDRRMC – NDRRMC recently said that about 36,000 people or 7,730 families have been evacuated from 27 cities and towns prior to the Taal eruption.
The bureau added that as of the moment there are no confirmed casualties from the eruption. Taal’s alert status still remains at level 4 after it entered a moment of “intense unrest beginning with phreatic or stea-driven activity in several points inside the main crater” at 1 PM, January 12.
It then progressed to magmatic eruption at 2:49 AM up to 4:28 AM of January 13.
According to GMA News, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said that about 144 earthquakes were recorded in the area as of Monday, 1 AM.
44 of these tremors range from Intensity I up to IV in Tagaytay City, Alitagtag, Sto. Tomas and Lemery in Batangas.
Classes in all levels remains suspended on January 14 in the entire Batangas province, several cities in Metro Manila and nearby provinces in the south. This is in order to ensure the safety of the students.
As per the report, the Tagaytay-Talisay Road was reopened to the public as stated from GMA’s dzBB.
