Batangas Hit by Another Earthquake with 4.0 Magnitude

EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 4.0 magnitude quake in Batangas, January 13, 2020.

Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.

One of the strong quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.

Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking were felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“.

Recently, a quake has hit a part of Batangas. At 11:39 pm on January 13, 2020, Agoncillo was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.0.

EARTHQUAKE

According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Batangas was located at 13.95°North, 120.88°East – 006 km North 74° West of Agoncillo. The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 010 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that Intensity II was felt in Malabon City while Intensity III was felt in Tagaytay City. Meanwhile, there are no expected damages caused by the quake and as well as aftershocks.
