Man Withdraws Fake P1000 Bills From ATM Inside A Mall In Taytay, Rizal

MAN WITHDRAWS FAKE P1000 BILLS – On the day before the new year, a man withdrew several fake P1,000 bills from an ATM.

According to reports from GMA, a man named Rodrigo Casas Jr. withdrew the fake bills from an ATM inside a mall in Taytay, Rizal. He knew that the bills were fake when he tried to use it in a hardware store.

Based on the statements of the teller, she knew the bills were fake because it wasn’t rough like regular bills. In addition to that, she also tested the bills using a money detector.

As per the report, Casas himself admitted that he didn’t double-check the bills after he withdrew them.

Following this, Casas stated that he had already reported the incident to the bank branch where he withdrew the money. However, reports still didn’t disclose any information regarding which bank was involved.

Meanwhile, the bank involved has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident. But, according to representatives of said bank, investigators are already working on the case.

Even with this incident, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) emphasized that people could still safely use ATM’s. They added that people need to be vigilant especially when it comes to fake money.

Adding to this, the bank also highlighted that people should turn-over money that seemed to be questionable. BSP also wanted to remind people that faking money has severe criminal implications.

According to an official from BSP, we need to make sure that our money is genuine. She added that we need to take a closer look at the faces in the portrait.

Based on her statement, the faces on the portraits on money should be clean. Also, the lines should be clear as well as the eyes.

She added that genuine bills have an empty space where you could see a shadow that looks like a 3D print when placed close to a light source.
